Key to Condition/Quality Rating
Eureka has attempted to clarify the definition of the condition of books offered for sale. We hope our grading and notes on condition of each book will help to take away some of the problems associated with this area. See also the Abbreviations Key for more information about reading the condition notes. Eureka has, in many cases, protected dust jackets by re-covering books in an archival polypropelene. We have attempted to assess the condition of books in a fair and impartial way. In the case of rare or hard to find titles much effort has been put into 'condition of stock', but a comment of w.a.f (with all faults) will apply.
6 Star Rating: As New means that the book is basically the same condition in which it was published.
5 Star Rating: Fine describes a used book that shows very slight wear mainly on dust jacket and possibly very slight wear top and/or bottom of binding - but no tears on either paper, binding or dust jacket. Slight discolouration on top pages may be noticeable (around the edges only).
4 Star Rating: Very Good (v.g.) describes a used book that shows some general signs of overall wear - very minor tear(s) either on paper and/or dust jacket and slight wear top and/or bottom of binding. Slight discolouration top/side/bottom of pages may be noticeable (around the edges only). The majority of Eureka's stock falls into this category.
3 Star Rating: Good (gd.) describes a book that has had average use, has all pages and leaves - may have minor wear on binding (slightly bumped corners and/or small tear(s) and/or frayed/chipped cloth and slight fading or staining etc.) The dust jacket may have small tears (in some cases repaired) and very minor pieces missing (chipped). Some paper discolouration on the top/side/bottom will be noticeable (especially around the edges).
2 Star Rating: Fair is a much used book, that while contents are complete may lack dust jacket or dust jacket is badly worn/torn/incomplete; end papers/half title or title page may be missing etc. Binding may be loose and overall badly worn/stained/frayed.
