In 1955 'The Old Shrub Roses' brought to public attention the favourite roses of the early nineteenth century; The scented Damasks, Gallicas and Albas. In 1962, 'Shrub Roses of Today' looked at species and hybrids from Japan and North America, and described the roses from the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. In 1965, 'Climbing Roses Old and New', considered ramblers and climbers. These three
titles now substantially revised and updated have brought the classic trilogy together.
